The ancient skill of metalwork meets modern design in the hands of Mathias Bengtsson and Sara Hildén Bengtsson. The designers approach metalware with the same considerations an architect would have for building a timeless edifice, aiming to create enduring designs that withstand the test of time. Starting with a paper-thin piece of silver-plated brass, they etch it chemically using a process used to make computer micro-processors. The result is a range of patterned armbands so light in weight that they could be mistaken for two-dimensional graphics. By cliping the ends together, they come to life as three-dimensional forms.
The Etched jewellery line is a joint venture with Sara Hildén Bengtsson.
Available at MoMA Design store, Moss and Cooper-Hewitt in New York.
